IT’S WOMEN’S PLAY presents OFFENSIVE TO SOME 3/3 7 PM ET

Canada’s PerSIStence Theatre Company presents OFFENSIVE TO SOME, the award-winning play written by Bernardine Ann Teraz Stapleton. Part of this feminist theatre company’s one-woman play series IT’S WOMEN’S PLAY, MIRANDA MACDONALD plays the Woman, in prison for killing her husband – a man who has abused her for years. Her journey as a wife, mother, daughter, but most of all as a person, unfolds in her interactions with unseen cops and a parade of talk show hosts. “Sadly, bringing focus to violence against women continues to be relevant,” says Jenn Deon, PerSIStance Theatre’s producing artistic director. “It’s easy for people to assume that domestic violence is something that only happens at a distance. I think that ‘Offensive to Some’ illustrates how easy #metoo continues to happen in a society that still doesn’t do enough to support survivors.”

Eva Noblezada & Seth Rudetsky 3/7

Eva Noblezada stars in the title role for director Diane Paragas in the recently released award-winning Sony Pictures film, Yellow Rose. She was nominated for a Tony Award for starring on Broadway in Hadestown. It was her second Tony nomination in two Broadway roles, following her earlier nod in the title role in Miss Saigon in 2017.

IT’S WOMEN’S PLAY presents I AM A GENIUS 3/10 7 PM ET

Canada’s PerSIStence Theatre Company presents I AM A GENIUS (DOES ANYONE HERE KNOW ME?), created and performed by Lois Brown. Part of this feminist theatre company’s one-woman play series IT’S WOMEN’S PLAY, the performance is a look into a shimmering world of forgotten and brilliant things with the help of paper, plastic, foil, and a microphone. Newfoundland-based artist Lois Brown shares a look into memory and dementia, value and worthlessness, and the rational and the magical. I AM A GENIUS… is an improvised sonic choreography of things, composed by Montreal-based James O’Callaghan and infused with Brown’s off-beat humour, her mis-use of objects, and her genuine playfulness with the audience. “Brown’s wry text and visual metaphors offer a searingly fresh way of looking at the world.” – Governor General's Award-winning playwright Robert Chafe

Emily Skinner & Seth Rudetsky 3/14

Emily was last seen on Broadway in the 2019 season in The Cher Show. In the fall 2017 Broadway season, she had the honor of being directed by Hal Prince in his last show PRINCE OF BROADWAY at Manhattan Theatre Club and she was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance. She was also seen that same year Off-Broadway in Transport Group’s much lauded production of PICNIC, where she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance as Rosemary.
